St. Vincent's Center
Description
A Catholic Charities organization, St. Vincent’s Center is a residential, therapeutic group facility serving children ages 12 and under that have serious behavioral, psychiatric and/or emotional problems. The majority of children referred to St. Vincent’s have suffered trauma related to child abuse and neglect. St. Vincent’s has one diagnostic unit and five long-term treatment units serving 70 children and their families. Referrals are accepted from the Department of Social Services and the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

Volunteer Times
STAR Program volunteers are needed Tuesday through Friday for a weekly 2-hour block between 4:00 and 7:30 p.m.
Homework Helpers are needed Monday through Thursday for a weekly 2-hour block between 3:30 and 6:00 p.m.

Orientation/ Requirements
Be willing to make a semester-long commitment of at least 2 hours per week
Attend 1 training session at NDP on the 21st
or
two training sessions at St. Vincent’s during their scheduled times
Read and complete the following paperwork given to you at the training session
Volunteer Application
Burns Report
Volunteer Manual
Sexual Offender Registry check
Agree to and sign all required policies and procedures
Present a drivers’ license to be photocopied
Submit record of a TB Screening Test (from your doctor) taken within the last year
3 teachers/adult recommendation forms
