Committee Goal

The experiences NDP girls have at Camp Umoja do not offer complete insight into the campers’ home lives. We interact with the kids in our environment, not theirs. It is often difficult to remember that they come from an entirely different background, one that most of us cannot relate to. The Club Umoja Education Committee exists to provide students with an understanding of the poverty in the Greater Baltimore Area.

Events

The Education Committee will host an Urban Forum that is designed to broaden NDP’s awareness of urban issues currently facing Baltimore’s youth. The Urban Forum format changes but often consists of a guest speaker, discussion questions, and a brief movie clip or power point presentation.
