Mission Statement
The mission of Club Umoja is to foster ongoing relationships with children from Camp Umoja through programs with Baltimore public housing developments.

We strive to instill a love of learning and promote personal growth in the children.

In addition, Club Umoja exists to educate the NDP community as it increases our awareness on urban issues affecting Baltimore’s youth.

In the process of achieving these goals we hope to make the experience enjoyable for all involved.

How can I serve?
Club Umoja has various committees that specialize in different types of involvement. The education committee’s focus is broadening urban awareness at NDP. Also, the SBCDC and Douglass Homes committees go on trips to see the kids at after school programs where they tutor and play games with the children. For students who want to be involved in Club Umoja but are unable to go directly to where the children live, Saturday Umoja parties are held at NDP once a month.

Do I need to have Camp experience to be in the Club?
Everyone is welcome to join Club Umoja, even if they have not been involved in Camp Umoja. All students are encouraged to attend Club Umoja meetings and to take part in the club’s various events, both on campus and off campus.
